One of the things I want to use this blog for is to share some tips on how you can use gifting to enhance your clients’ experience and really make your brand stand out.
Today’s blog is designed to get you thinking about the opportunities within your business to go the extra mile and add a little bit of ‘wow’ through bespoke gifting.
Let’s take a look at WHEN you could gift, WHO you could gift to, and WHAT you could gift them.
Depending on the nature of your business there will be many different occasions when you could use bespoke gifting to add that little extra something to the experience you’re providing.
Are you launching a new product, service or business; or perhaps re-branding an existing one? You can create a buzz and spread the word with launch gifts that really celebrate your brand. You’ll already be shouting about it across social media, so sending gifts is a great way compliment this and really make an impact.
Are you running an event, workshop or retreat? On-brand goodie bags or boxes are a great way to entice your guests, create excitement and make sure they’re wowed by your attention to detail. It’s those extra touches that really make an experience memorable and encourage people to keep talking about it after the event.
Do you work with some amazing clients and suppliers who make you love what you do even more? You could show your gratitude and make sure they can’t get enough of working with you by sending them a thoughtful appreciation gift at the end of a major project or at the end of the year.
Do you send client outputs such as photos, products, printed materials etc.? Rather than just popping it in a standard box or envelope think about how you could go the extra mile to ensure receiving it is a whole experience in itself for your client.
Think about all the interactions you have with clients, suppliers, partners and others throughout the year and how bespoke gifting could enhance the experience for everyone involved.
You might have already had some ideas of who the recipients of your bespoke gifts might be whilst thinking about the opportunities for gifting. If not, here are a few to consider.
Clients: your clients are ultimately why you do what you do. A gift could form part of the service or product you deliver to them, or it could be a little extra – just because. Show them your appreciation, make them feel valued, and make sure they come back to you again – and bring lots more ideal clients along with them!
Industry influencers: you could introducing yourself and your brand for the first time, sharing news of a re-brand or launch of a new product or service, or thanking them for their support. Sending gifts to bloggers, magazine editors or other industry influencers is a great way to create a bit of excitement and spread the word about your brand amongst others in your industry and beyond. It’s a great opportunity to really stretch your reach, so you want to make sure the gift is spot on both in terms of representing your brand and grab the attention of the recipient. They’ll likely receive a lot of post so you want to make sure your gift is one they’ll love to receive and want to tell everyone about.
Other entrepreneurs you’d love to work with: what better way to introduce yourself and explain why you think your businesses would be the perfect working partnership. Send a gift that captures their attention and showcases what your business is all about.
Friends, supporters and cheerleaders: hopefully you’ve got a few of these – those awesome humans who have you back through all the ups and downs of running your own business. Give them a gift that lets them know how much they mean to you and your business.
So now you’ve got an idea of when and who to gift to, the next big question is what to give. You’ve got to consider what will reflect your brand? What will really get the recipients’ attention? What will have an immediate impact and leave a lasting impression?
Here are 5 key things to consider…
1. Remember it’s a gift! Yes it needs to represent your brand, but make sure it’s not just a prettily wrapped sales package – include something that will be an unexpected treat
2. Make it memorable! Include something useful that will be kept, used, and act as a constant reminder of you and your amazing brand so that you’re always top of mind when they next need your product or service
3. Let your personality show! People buy from people don’t forget, so add a little something that reflects the person behind the business
4. Information is key! So make sure you include information about your event/product/service/whatever it is you want them to know. Whether it’s a full on brochure or a simple leaflet, get something designed that really captures the look and feel of your brand
5. Package to perfection! What’s on the outside counts just as much as what’s on the inside. Especially as that is the bit they’ll see first – make sure it reflects your brand and gets them excited to open up and see what’s inside
With these things in mind, have a little fun with gifting opportunities within your business. The main thing is that it enhances the experience and fits perfectly alongside all the other brand touch points you’ve worked so hard to create.
